The Refi-Eem Texts
Travelers was a term used by the pagans in and around ancient Israel to refer to spirits that traveled or crossed over from the land of the dead. It's used specifically in one of the so-called Refi-eem text from ancient Eugarat. There's a reference for Travelers in the dictionary of deities and demons in the Bible. The most Bible commentators who look at that say, well, the Travelers, that's because that area East of the Dead Sea in the vicinity of Mount Nebo across from Jericho.
