In 1974, Ted bought a remote patch of land in Texas. He'd purchased his land from a man who ran a lumber mill and over time he came to deeply resent the business. His idyllic paradise was sound-tracked by the grinding and sawing of the lumber industry. Unbeknownst to the Garings, Ted sabotaged a piece of their noisiest equipment in the dead of night by throwing rocks into it.
