Is There a Mark Scheme Mentality?

Children need something to work towards that validates them and their efforts. But at the moment, the sort of core energy is being sucked out by mark schemes. By having fewer exams, you'd leave more space and time for other things. This would allow teachers to have more creativity actually as well.
