Inhaled Antibiotics in Pneumonia

The last thing to just think about from a treatment standpoint is what the role of inhaled antibiotics are in VAP, which I can touch on really quickly. Inhaled antibiotics are a really attractive idea because they have a really large therapeutic window in VAP. There's retrospective data and a meta-analysis that suggests that inhaled antibiotics may be beneficial for folks with multi-drug or extensively drug-resistant gram-negative pathogens. But generally speaking, their routine use is really not encouraged at all.
