There is a book about touring in Girdle. And it just was wrong. So I threw away an entire book in order to write this other thing, which structurally seemed to be truer. The whole idea of the novel was there are some truths we can only get to by stepping outside. Once I made that decision it just became this fluid. I just knew what I was doing. She is also the director of sciences at Pioneer Works in Brooklyn, NY.
