In 1952, project artichoke researchers decide to conduct a test into whether or not people with hepatitis are more vulnerable to LSD. Stanley Glickman is an American artist who'd won prizes for his work and had gotten to go to a fancy art academy in Paris. He was invited by lay select group of Americans whose conservative dress set them apart from rest of the crowd. After taking a few sips from his drink, he began to feel what he later called a distortion of mental distance. The next few minutes were the last of Glickman's productive life. For all of his kindly exterior, Gottlieb is like a fucking serial killer," says author Stephen Kinzer.
