Is Estrogen a Cause of Thymic Atrophy?
Excess estrogen can lead to thymic atrophy. Estrogen is kind of acting through the cortisol. By administering anti-cortisol agents, they found out that you can actually at least stop the atrophy. Animal studies have shown that administering progesterone,. which happens to be a glucocorticoid antagonist, selected, though sometimes you can feel it for cortisol effects. It can actually reverse the timeic atrophy in rodents.
