The Role of Resistance in Crisis Negotiations
The first starting point is to really understand that resistance is going to happen. And I think also, not perhaps not all the time, but typically when you give people advice that they haven't asked for, they haven't sought. You create more disconnection than connection and more problems and solutions, despite your good intentions. Yeah. So we kind of know that most of these negotiations end well, they end safely, but the person in crisis won't just sort of acquiesce to something that a negotiator says immediately because they're actually trying to seem rational.
