The Envy of the Future in Ballard
The film very consciously creates these two places though, doesn't it? I mean, one of the things which is distinctive- which I guess is more a kind of French version of urban modernity. The modern suburb and the location of the new mass housing are the same place. We don't really embrace the future in this country. More like hiding.
