The Life and Times of a Bachman
Obatrima Bachman grew up in Japan during World War II. She and her family were evacuated to the countryside, but couldn't go back. Obatrima's parents asked her if she wanted to go with them; she said yes. But when they got there, their company housing was burned down. The war also brought complex feelings for a Bachman: Her mother spoke out against the Japanese government.
