Growing up in Virginia does the AT loom large and just the cultural heritage of that region. Do you remember having an epiphany of oh my gosh, there's this trail that goes for 2200 miles? Definitely the epiphany because where I grew up was basically DC. There were not a lot of people doing anything like that or it was more sports and military stuff.
