The Rebellion of Lambert
Lincoln and Level faced an army twice their size commanded by Tudor Faithfuls, Jasper Tudor and the Earl of Oxford. The rebels were probably hoping they could take out a few of Henry's army with their German crossbowmen then have the royalists charge up the hill in fury. And so they started with a swarm of crossbows and received back a deluge of arrows. Their Irish Kearns possessed very limited armour indeed and were therefore being slaughtered by the arrows storm. So it was plan B, a desperate charge at the royalist army to hope they could be broken quickly. But for an hour stroke was matched by stroke and thrust by thrust, but the royalist numbers
