In politics, certainly in philosophy, we sometimes admire the person who will tame their own desires. We can be very much afraid of the person who wants to curb everybody else's passions and desires. I think there can be a tragic irony to it, certainly,. i think that. But a lot of this is cyclical. One generation, you know, there’s a yearning for change, for turmoil, for chaos. And for the next generation, there therethere can then be a sort of a yearnings for stability and peace.
