The Importance of Economic Ties With China
Last year was really the first time when Europe or Germany realized how dependent they are on China for their, you know, income revenues and business survival. I think having economic ties with China is not only beneficial potentially for the West and for Taiwan, but it also generates extra leverage. If China's economy is still somewhat dependent on Taiwan and the West, this would generate incentive to make sure that the situation concerning Taiwan doesn't go out of control.
