The New Zealand Wars

The New Zealand wars were a series of conflicts that took place in Aoteara between the indigenous Maori people and British colonial forces. These wars spanned from the early 1840s, late 1870s. The underlying cause was that very struggle for land and resources as European settlers were arriving in increasing numbers. And so as the 19th and 20th century was progressed, Maori oppression also manifest in the suppression of cultural practices and languages by the government.
