Trujillo is obsessed with power, control, spectacle and excess; he owns 500 pairs of shoes, 2,000 suits and 10,000 neckties. Over the course of his reign, Trujillo calls for the murder of tens of thousands of people,. including the 1937 racially motivated parsley massacre of about 20,000 Haitians living near the border between Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
