The Importance of Representative Practice Design

Gymnastics and diving are judged for their aesthetic perfection. Keith David shared some really fascinating research about diving in terms of learning the experiences within diving or representative practice design. What you have to do is perform the dive with a less than perfect take off because the likelihood is you're never going to have a perfect take off. There's always going to be even a micro element of variability. And so the skill is actually micro adjustment in action and the perception of action, how you then adapt your movement in action in order to perform.
