The Origins of the Mycenaean Greeks

Zeus and his name is actually one of the only gods for which we can trace a pretty clear proto-indo-European root. Zeus first pops up in the linear bean tablets of the mycenaean Greek world. He didn't have a temple at Olympia until the late fifth century BCE Hera had a temple way before him. His individualized worship particularly through temples even at the sites that we most associate with him occurs quite late on in the story of the ancient Greece all right then I'll challenge that straight away.
