The banks of the olumbia river, main trading spot for indigenous groups all over the northwestern us. Areas around major rivers were almost as always, important trading centers, especialy during salmon runs. The french and spanish were the first to explore oregon in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries before europeans arrived.
