Climbing Gold: The Story of a Russian Ascent of the Northridge

In 2018, after 30 attempts by different parties, Liktok-1 received an ascent of the north side via variation of the Northridge. That same summer, two Russians, Alexander Gukov and Sergey Glazunov were able to follow the 1978 line past the high point to where it connected to the summer ridge. But on the descent, Glaz unov fell, repelling, stranding Gukov for six days before a dramatic long-line rescue via helicopter. So now I think that for me anyway, when I go climbing with somebody, I go with them because I want to have that kind of feeling of camaraderie," Honnold says.
