The Importance of Taking Account of Human Nature

Human nature has no history. We don't become better humans because we have better toys and gadgets. The Declaration was this profound statement about permanent principles. And the Constitution is, so the Declaration, as some people like to say, was the mission statement and the Constitution is the bylaws. Both of those were written towards immutable permanent things by which I mean human nature. That's why having stuff written down is really, really important.
