The continents of the americas had already been drifting away from the land mass of europe and africa for over a hundred million years. The last time these sea levels dropped was during the last ice age that began around 33 thousand years ago. And humans used this bridge to follow where the mammoths had gone before crossing from asia into theAmericas. They travelled south from there, setting up stone age cultures wherever they went. And then around ten thousand years ago, the last ice Age came to an end, sea levels rose and the land age between the America's and Europe sank back beneath the waves forever.
