The AHA Blood Pressure Cutoff in the First Half of Pregnancy
The ACOG does not have an idea whether to change or revise the current cutoff value from 140 over 90 to 130 over 80. There is an association with adverse perinatal outcomes at the lower blood pressure, but it's a weak association. So I define chronic hypertension as greater than 130 over 80s in the first part of pregnancy. And that's actionable. What do we do? Well, what do we do with any chronic hypertensive early on in pregnancy? We start to monasporine and we give them education.We tell them to eat healthy. We tell them to exercise.
