David. Smith was walking through a part of the city occupied by the prols when he spotted a diary in an old secondhand shop. After jaying up the courage to write in it for weeks, he finally sits down and begins to write down his thoughts. He doesn't censor the thoughts as he frequently acknowledges that just by buying the book, he is probably a dead man. Sooner or later, the thought place would discover what he's done and he would be killed.
