Is the Fed Really Controlling Inflation?
There's a big debate about where the drivers of inflation are coming from, and how much is really within the feds control. 60 to 70 % of the inflation overshoot is actually demand side, aggregate demand, nominal g d p. If that's not the province of the fed, why don't? Why do we even have a fed? So that is ens responsibility. Not the supply shocks, they are real. But this inflationary overshoot, in large measures, is due to aggregate demand.
