The Wisdom of the Loan

Rodin loaned the bracelet to Nabataur, a camel trader from Babylon. The woman who borrowed it was fat and wrinkled; she wanted her son to be a merchant. She had pictured him as a wealthy man of Babylon but he turned out to be a rascal. Rodin said: "I warn thee to be cautious if thou wouldst ever have thy gold back in hand"
