If peter leads, then why do we see almost all doctrine established for several hundred years through councils with hardly a peep from the pope? Because it is generally better not to. It is generally better to build a consensus. If you want to go get people to adopt a particular position, you want to bring as many supporting voices in as possible. We actually see that happening in the book of acts because god has already made it clear you don't need to be circumsised in order to be a christian. That's very clear from, uh, acts chapter ten onward. But later it still came up as a controversy. And so they then held the acts 15 council so it
