The Early Frankish Kingdom
Clovis expanded the Frankish kingdom southward by defeating the Visigoths. By 496, the Franks under Clovis battled the Alomani kingdom on the upper Rhine. In 511, Clovis died, but his successors continued to expand the territory of the kingdom. The Burgundian kingdom in the southeast was soon conquered and annexed.
