The Rise of Hyperscalers

The internet and our abilities to transfer information over the internet meant that that data could be stored anywhere. Companies were able to move their data servers to places where land was cheaper, and sometimes found they'd built much more computing space than they needed. Over time, organizations got a lot smarter and said, well, if I had a data center and it was really large... Could I not sell part of that compute power and storage to someone else? And this is where we started to see cloud providers, what we commonly term today as hyperscalers who were creating these very large data centers all over the world.
