In 1885 when Vincent was 32 his father died and after a brief stint of painting Antwerp Vincent moved in with his brother Thea in the French capital Paris where his painting style began to change. When he arrives in Paris he sees all sorts of changes that have happened in the middle of the 19th century in Paris they see impressionists like Monet, Daga, Manet or Pissarro. He's amazed he's thrilled to see the impact of colour because the impressionists were painting this bright light palette very different to the sort of colour values that he's been using with his potato eaters.
