In the last election 89 million Americans went to vote to have their vote just not count. The way we gerrymander districts in the House of Representatives is a system whereby politicians pick the voters as opposed to the voters picking the politicians. We take it for granted that campaigns will be privately funded, which means that candidates for Congress and representatives in Congress have to spend anywhere between 30 and 70% of their time dialing for dollars. But who are they calling? They're no more than 120,000 Americans but this tiny fraction of the 1%. This dynamic has an effect on them.
