It was late 2012 when Livestrong officially dropped Armstrong from their name and they transitioned from the Lance Armstrong Foundation to what they are today. Some of the board members, like cancer survivor and oncologist David Johnson, didn't even want to change the name. After all, even if Lance did lie about his cycling, he did in fact survive cancer. He did inspire countless people, and he contributed $7 million of his own money to the foundation. The damage has been done and it seems permanently. But at least they've weathered the storm and proven that they can still stand on their own two feet without him.
