Is There a Moral Obligation?
The preferred faculty argument is very good at coming up with negative moral obligations, but not positive ones. And the reason for that is because, as Aquinas says many times, positive norms are always open-ended. They're never binding in every moment, but they require you to act when the situation calls for it. But negative norms are always binding because they're something that's always bad for you.
