The New World of the Imaginary and Complex Numbers
In your book, you alter the recipe for a cake so that it is gluten-free, sugar, and dairy-free. What's that an analog for? It was a bit of an extreme case where I had so many friends where many people have this experience. We invent whole new worlds by taking things that we already understood and just slightly altering them or saying they're not going to be able to do it. And that is how we came up with the new world of the imaginary and the complex numbers.
