The Crystal Cave
The setting has added mortal danger to the story. Another thing that setting can do is to add a mystery to the story a puzzle here's an example of that from mary stuart's the crystal cave uh early in the novel it begins then then i went into the cage and it was like being locked inside a cage. The full west wind strengthened while for one holy outrageous day when the entire surface of the sea mountainous waves valleys at all was a flying mixture of air and fragmented water I'm sure glad i'm not on that boat in real life but i'm really glad to be on it in fiction.
