When did we need to address this before it becomes so deeply enmeshed and tangled with society in the way that social media is, you know. You can't just turn off social media, even if none of the companies would agree to obviously because they make money from it. And their argument is AI is going to do the same. Once you've got this tool that can produce language, you've got the possibility of hacking into all forms of human communication. Because at least at the moment it's impossible to detect whether this is a genuine human trying to persuade or whether this text has been crafted to have most impact on hundreds of thousands of people.
