Mother Tree Project

The mother tree project is an experiment to see how forests respond to climate change. It uses 24 forests across a climate grading of douglas fur, and then harvesting those forests in different ways. The aim is to find out if leaving old trees on helps regenerate the system or does it just lead to more clear-cutting. If we leave clusters of old trees, they nurture the next generation,. They keep the carbon in the soil, you know, they keep the bio diversity, they provide the seed. So this is really cool. It shows a different way to manage forests. I would like to see these concepts applied to tropical forests too. And use them for our ancient boreal forests as well
