The Thumos is not a rational part of you exactly, but it partakes in reason. It's guided by reason and it can hear the commands, feel the tug of reason. C.S. Lewis will tell you that the courage, which is the virtue of the Thumos, is the form of every virtue at the testing point. That is, it is the thing that enacts, that puts things into practice.
