Theory is that you, it's called the connectome, right? We're going to copy every single synaptic connection in your brain. It'll be a digital file. Then you upload it into the cloud and you turn it on and there you are. This is the theory. I think it's utter nonsense because if we did this while you were still alive and then pulled you out after scanning you and say, hey, guess what? You're up in the cloud now. But how would that be any different from identical twins? The moment you separate or in different environments and turn both systems on, you're leading different lifepaths. They're so integrated. Iris Berent is a Professor of Psychology at Northeastern University, Boston, and the Director of the Language and Mind Lab. Berent’s research has examined how the mind works and how we think it does. She is the author of dozens of groundbreaking scientific publications and the recipient of numerous research grants. Her previous book, The Phonological Mind (Cambridge, 2013), was hailed by Steven Pinker as a “brilliant and fascinating analysis of how we produce and interpret sound.”
