The Ancients

The History of Shrin in the Shana May
Shrin is a great example of that long tradition in Iranian culture. The Shano May was written by Firdausi, who wrote an epic poem about Alexander the Great and it's absolutely fantastic to think about that transmission isn't it? She also writes what we might call the Orthodox Khosrow and Shrin romance which is again something that's remembered very very well still in Iran. These stories are all part of the growing up and engaging with the history and culture so not only does it become part of a big story of kings it also becomes part of the story of the Persian world and Persianate culture too.
