The Importance of Objective Quantitative Markers in Cardiac Rest
In Switzerland typically there are several markers that are considered before taking such decisions. If all these signs are negative or going the wrong direction, then there is a strong indication that the patients will not survive or not survive well. The vast majority either they don't wake up or they have some of these signs that are promising some of these tests that provide very negative results. So I would say that from a scientific standpoint, what we lack is a general understanding and objective quantitative marker that can really stratify consciousness levels depending on the cause.
