The Importance of an Apprenticeship

In science fiction any number of technologies could be taught by individuals if there is no public education system. Wizards aren't the only people who can have an apprenticeship. One rule rule that we may want to come up with is what age an apprenticeship can begin at and when is it expected to end. Another issue is whether students are required to go to school.
