The Spike Protein Is a Key to Unlocking Our Immune Response
Vaccines always target one molecule on the surface of the virus called the spike protein. But when you've had an infection, your body sis the whole virus and produces anti bodies to just about everything. So they know by looking for things which are from the corono virus, but which are not the spike protein, that you have had the infection. And telling that difference is therefore quite straightforward.
