The Law of Adoption
The Law of Adoption ritual was scuttled in 1894 because being adopted by high-ranking elders became nothing more than a status symbol. It usually caused jealousy and conflict between adopted sons and biological sons. The whole thing is to create a network in which you don't need outsiders. Mommies don't matter. Not in Brigham Young's Mormonism. There is no mommies in this world that anybody gives a shit about. It's all daddies.
