I think one complicating factor too is like it also has to be the right regulation. This in some sense is legitimizing efforts to say, hey, you know what? Yeah, there ought to be some real scrutiny. If we're talking about labs that are going to build human level intelligence that see themselves as anywhere close to doing that, it does seem like pretty insane to just be like, yeah, you know, you do what you want.
