While doing his national service in the Israeli Army, I helped evaluate candidates for officer training. We used methods that had been developed by the British Army and World War II. One test was called the leaderless group challenge on an obstacle field. Some of the men looked like strong leaders, others seemed like wimps or arrogant fools,. Others were mediocre but not hopeless.
