The true origins of nursery rhymes are a mystery. The oldest recorded nursery rhyme in the english language is a little ditty called ding dong bell, published first in 15 80. It's thought to originate in ho south cree an seventies but again, no one knows for sure. Nursery rhymes provided an effective way to smuggle in coated or thinly veiled messages under the guise of kids entertainment. Certain somewhat dark messages were sometimes snuck into nursery rhymes to help people remember tragic moments from the past.
