Aristotle's Philosophy of Nature
Aristotle thinks about it in a very sharp particular way and has a principle about the simultaneity of cause and effect. We can distinguish between causes in potency versus causes in act. That's a very important distinction that leads to the principle that all causes in act are simultaneous with their effects. And so these are not too incompatible systems regarding nature. They're two levels of analysis operating at very different levels.
