The Early Church Fathers Help Interpret Scripture
The church rarely holds a council to defy, never actually hold a council to say, define things that aren't in dispute. When you hear the church defining things loudly, it's precisely because there is all of a sudden heresies that have arisen concerning these things. And i would rather take their interpretation than someone from to day, or 400 years ago, or 600 years ago.
