Day 56: Man’s First Sin
The Catechism in a Year (with Fr. Mike Schmitz)
00:00
We Prefer Ourself to God
In that sin, man preferred himself to God in all of our sins. We prefer ourself to God and that by that very act, act scorned God. He chose himself over and against God, against the requirements of his creaturely status and therefore against his own good. It's also against our own good because God is the source of all good. If I'm choosing myself, you know, the receiver of good against the one who gives good, I am violating my own good, right? And we're going to talk tomorrow about some of the consequences of that first sin for all of humanity.
